Eyup Sultan, often called only Eyup, is the first settlement after the conquest of Istanbul. It became a district after 1936 when Beyoglu and Fatih were divided. It has many historical monuments from the Ottoman period.
The tomb and the mosque of Ayyub al-Ansari (Eyüp Sultan Mosque) is a sacred place for Muslims. Especially in the month of Ramadan hundreds of visitors come here every day. In the district, where the interest is quite high due to this historical structure, real estate projects have been increasing rapidly in recent years.

This unique hill has an aerial cable car, a.k.a. tram/gondola, called Teleferik in Turkish. The line is almost 0,42 km and has two stops; one is at the edge of the Golden Horn (Halic), whereas the other stop is situated at the Pierre Loti Hill, just in front of the café. Eyup district has a great transportation system, connected with metro, tramway, bus, minibus, and dolmus.
